Our Story

Senator Babajide Omoworare was opportune to assist over One hundred and seventy young persons to secure jobs in Federal, State, Local Government, or Corporate private institutions within the decade of 2010 – 2021. This was a minuscule of the extensive list of job seekers in his data bank built as a member of the National Assembly.  His response to the huge gap and consistent yearning for jobs and engagements of youths in his constituency on one hand and his visualization of supporting community development through private initiatives was the establishment of Afara the Bridge for Community Development Initiative (ABCDi); as a Non-Governmental Organisation.

ABCDi, laid emphasis on enhancing the vocational skills of women and young ones, conducting job clinics and computer skill acquisition training for job seekers, building capacities, and providing entrepreneurial and leadership education. ABCDi was also active in organising youth exchanges, facilitating summer schools for secondary school pupils, sponsoring education competitions, and supporting the retraining of teachers.

Ilera’loro a one-day community-level medical outreach became the flagship project of ABCDi in health development. Medical support was also given to constituents in terms of augmenting medical bills, providing medications, undertaking the cost of operations, and provision of prosthetics. ABCDi supported the registration of eighty-four artisan groups and trade associations into cooperative societies, therefore enabling them to qualify and attract funding by the Osun Micro Credit Scheme. Through ABCDi recommendation, Senator Omoworare provided funding as seed grants and working capital augmentation for over two hundred small businesses in the State.

H.O.P.E

AFARA the Bridge for Community Development Initiatives addresses the vision of promoting sustainable livelihood through the four planks of H.O.P.E.

Health Development

We believe that it is a healthy community that can seek sustainability. ABCDi strongly relies on the promotion of healthy living by the knowledge of essential health status. We will promote projects that will attract health infrastructures, access, capacity, and a community-level protection for health facilities.

Organized Youth Development

We believe that the future of every society is in the purposeful development of its youthful population. The focus of ABCDi in this area is to engage youths in the communities constructively by enhancing capacities, creating opportunities, and building their leadership strength.

Poverty Reduction

We are tenacious about the reduction of poverty by the development of community economies through the positive participation of local business persons in the creation of jobs and wealth. We also use women empowerment programs as poverty reduction strategies. ABCDi will inspire innovation and enterprise development and as a precursor for long-term community growth.

Effective Education

We are committed to an education system that is a vehicle for social equity, inclusion, community development, and sustainable livelihood. An education that can enhance the employability of young people, create new businesses, and thereby creating new jobs. ABCDi will promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Craft, and Mathematics (STEAM) in schools. We will provide Entrepreneurial Education as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). ABCDi will also support all the tiers of education in the direct provision of remedial, facilities, training, research, and infrastructure as well as linkages with Government and Non-Government Institutions for the provision of similar resources.
